Fly and make light

A poem

Sometimes I stand on summer nights,
look at the stars and smile
as I smell the atmosphere.

I grab a lightning bug

and then open my hand to watch it prepare

to fly again.

As it does,

I wonder at a creature

who only wants to fly and make light,

and nothing more.
